REGINA V W.D. [PROVINCIAL COURT, AIRDRIE]
W was charged with multiple counts of possessing credit cards that had been obtained in the commission of an offence in Canada contrary to section 342(1)(c) of the Criminal Code. The allegations arose after W was caught on camera using these cards at a gas station. After retaining Calgary criminal lawyer Curtis Mennie the matters were scheduled for trial. After defence lawyer Curtis Mennie reviewed disclosure it became apparent that the Crown would have difficulty proving that the credit cards were actually stolen. On the eve of trial the Crown withdrew all charges against W and she received no criminal record.
