REGINA V Y.P. [PROVINCIAL COURT OF ALBERTA, YOUTH COURT COCHRANE]
Y was charged with robbery contrary to section 343 of the Criminal Code for an allegation that Y participated in the robbery of a bar in town. The Crown alleged that Y was a look out for another accused who went into a bar with a box cutter and held up the employee and made off with cash and liquor. The two then departed the scene and went back to a bush party where Y immediately went home without any cash or liquor. The Crown would not resolve the charges prior to trial for anything less than a criminal plea to possession of stolen property. Calgary Defence lawyer Curtis Mennie set the matter down for trial and prepared with Y. On the day of trial the Crown stayed the charge against Y.
